Edward, the fourth son of Page and Sarah farmed in the nearby Radnor Forest, just over the border in Radnorshire (now part of Powys in Wales). The family lived at Cwmygerwyn which lies in a dingle between Fforest Fach, Storling Bank and Llethr Du. in the parish of Cascob.

Edward’s first marriage was to Martha Jones by licence in Ludlow on 30 September 1785. From this marriage there were five children:

(iii) Edward married twice. With his first wife Ann there were four children

a. Elizabeth b. c 1818 married Thomas Bufton of Brampton Bryan and there was known to be at least one daughter from the marriage, Ann b. 1857.

c. Edward b. 1825 was a draper. He retired by the age of 46 and died on 31 December 1889 aged 64, and was buried at Bucknell.

d. Hariette married William Luggar and they had a daughter, Emily born about 1857.

Edward’s second wife was Jane.

(iv) Sarah married James Davies

(v) John married Mary Boston on 9 Feb 1829. Mary came from Cascob. From their marriage there were nine children:

(vi) Richard, known as Richard of Knighton. Richard married twice. His first marriage, to Jane Jones of Knucklas Mill took place at Heyop on 22 December 1813, “with parents’ consent”. There were four children from the first marriage:

~ Richard (jnr) married Mary Haynes on 7 October 1844 in

Knighton. From their marriage there were six children:

~Edward married Charlotte Price and died in 1855, buried at Knighton

~James, a carpenter, married Elizabeth.

Richard then married Jane Owens from Llandinam, Montgomery on 24

August 1829 in Llangunllo, from whom there were four more children:

+ William born in Beguildy, married Elizabeth.

+ Samuel was a wheelwright and carpenter. He married

Charlotte and died in 1919 in Knighton.

+ Peter was a sawyer and married Phoebe, died 1912 in

Stowe

+ John was a hurdle maker.

Edward senior’s second marriage was to Elizabeth Meredith, daughter of David Meredith. From this marriage there were nine children:

Edward died on 17 November 1824 and is buried at St Mary’s church in Bucknell.
